Review: Fascinating Aida at The Hexagon, Reading.
WHILE I am sure the last time I saw this talented trio perform it was billed as their 'farewell tour', it was sheer delight to welcome them back again with some more of their clever satirical songs and humour.
Dillie Keane at the piano, joined by Adele Anderson and Liza Pulman, have found a way of effortlessly singing their way through material based on topical matters ranging from health and safety to a pseudo Gilbert and Sullivan number on the financial crisis to global warming and, of course, several uninhibited references to human society and bodily functions.
As well as performing as an ensemble, each had their own solo spot and we even had a spoof opening to the second act when the tour manager entertained while awaiting the return of the stars from a trip away from the theatre.
Ever topical, their final encore was based on the joys of living in Reading, an item that had obviously been well-researched and written especially for this performance
Hoorah, the art of revue is still alive (and kicking!) in the hands of this multi-talented trio.
Also showing at Theatre Royal Windsor at 7.30pm on Sunday.
