DANCE pioneers Dreadzone showcase material from their new record at Play tomorrow (Saturday).

Signed by Alan McGee's Creation Records in the early 1990s, their 1995 album Second Light remained a favourite of late Radio 1 legend John Peel, spawning the top 20 hit Little Britain.

The new and sixth album Eye on the Horizon sees them hone the beguiling mix of reggae vocals, live guitars, electronic beats and dub bass to perfection.

The album features iconic and inventive samples including the theme from Long Good Friday and a spoken word piece from folk hero Woody Guthrie as well as Dennis Brown's Greensleeves classic Whip Them Jah.

The line-up has changed over the years, but core members Greg Dread and original bassmaster Leo Williams are celebrating more than 25 years together since they were in Mick Jones' band Big Audio Dynamite.

The drum and bass duo are joined by MC Spee, vocalist Earl 16 and new recruits Chris Compton on guitar and Chris Oldfield working in the trademark electronics to the sound.

Play, Milford Road, tomorrow (Saturday). 7pm, sold out. Eye On The Horizon is out on April 26.
