TO most people, Pete Doherty is just a regular fixture in the tabloid press, but to his many near-fanatical fans he will always be best loved for his music - and rightly so.

Alongside being a founding member of legendary indie band The Libertines and releasing last year's well-received solo album Gracelands/Wastelands, he continues to tour with the fantastic Babyshambles and has confirmed a last-minute gig in Reading next week.

Word on the street is that Babyshambles are back on top form while maintaining their reputation for live shows that are raucous, off-the-cuff, crowd pleasers.

As well as classics from their two albums Down In Albion and Shotters Nation, the band has been teasing fans with new material, hinting that another album may be in the pipeline.

Pete has been spotted a fair few times around Reading in the last year or so - at the Gospoda pub and Music Man shop in Oxford Road and Fanny's Antiques in Lynmouth Road - but it will be great to have him back doing what he does best: strapping on a guitar and showing us what all the fuss is about.

Babyshambles are one of the most exciting live bands on the circuit, so expect an electrifying, unpredictable performance.
