WILLIAM Fiennes will be talking about his best-selling book The Music Room at The Watermill Book Club tomorrow (Friday).

He will be in conversation with Pat Harper and read from his boyhood memoir.

Fiennes spent his childhood in a magical moated castle in Oxfordshire, a house alive with history and beauty.

As a young boy he was in awe of his brother Richard, eleven years older and a magnetic presence but who suffered from a severe form of epilepsy. His energy influenced the lives of the family and those around them.

The Music Room is Fiennes' recollections of his adored brother, the chill of the house's 'dark historical spaces' coexisting with the warmth and chatter of the family kitchen, and the surrounding landscapes distinguished by ancient trees, secret haunts, the moat's depths and temptations.

Bursting with tender detail - all captured with a poet's eye - and combining quiet humour, it is a sensuous and deeply-moving tribute to place, memory and the permanence of love.

Tomorrow (Friday) at 1.30pm at The Watermill Theatre, Newbury. Tickets £5 from 01635 46044 or online at www.watermill.org.uk
