A CULT American singer-songwriter with a Hollywood soundtrack and performances with Neil Diamond and Neil Young under her tiny belt will stop over at the Crooked Billet in Stoke Row on Tuesday.

Talented Denver-born lass Jill Sobule, who had a 1995 hit with 'I Kissed A Girl' long before Katy Perry discovered cherry Chapsticks, has had her work showcased in Clueless and on Broadway.

Tackling a quirky combination of topics including the death penalty, anorexia, shoplifting, reproduction and the French resistance movement, the 45-year-old's songs are credited by the New York Times as being simultaneously funny and poignant.

Securing this five-album artist, who has toured the world with Lloyd Cole, is a bit of a steal for the intimate Crooked Billet.

Expect to be blown away by material from latest album California Years, made after Sobule left her record label.

With trademark pizazz, Jill funded the project by setting up a website where fans could donate cash in exchange for gifts.

For example, $200 earned free admission to Sobule's gigs for a year, $1,000 a custom-written song. Miss this exclusive chance to witness some of that magic at your peril...
