BLIND Summit Theatre Company present an original take on George Orwell's classic 1984 today (Friday).
Physical theatre, music and the outstanding puppetry the company has become renowned for combining to create a cutting-edge and thought provoking production.
In a world where even your thoughts are controlled and revolution is just around the corner, Julia and Winston are caught as pawns in a net cast by the harshest of political worlds.
With its predictions of globalisation, surveillance paranoia and control through language, George Orwell's classic futuristic tale is acutely relevant for our time.
The language of propaganda creates a harsh political world and the puppetry creates the dream-space of Winston's imagination and fantasy.
The feeling of distrust in the story is converted directly into a set that moves and is animated by the puppeteer cast.
Blind Summit Theatre have a burgeoning international profile thanks to their extraordinary work on Anthony Minghella's Olivier Award winning Madam Butterfly for the English National Opera.Performances at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, tickets £10-12.
