ASPIRING authors can meet the masters at Reading's second Festival of Crime Writing.

The three-day event hosts 40 crime authors including Inspector Morse creator Colin Dexter, The Fast Show star and Young Bond author, Charlie Higson, and the queens of historical crime fiction, Anne Perry and Susanna Gregory.

Many other talks and workshops are already sold out including Role of the Pathologist with Dr Ken Shorrock, The History of Reading Prison with Anthony Stokes and Reading Crime Walk with Chronicle columnist David Cliffe.

New for 2009 are a murder mystery dinner, crime pub quiz and a Burglar Bill puppet show as part of an exciting programme for children.

For those more interested in fact than fiction, the popular 'Brought in for Questioning' series of talks is back featuring professionals and experts in crime, the judiciary and policing.

Most events will take place in the Town Hall in Blagrave Street. Festival programmes are available from libraries and arts venues around reading or on the web at www.readingarts.com or www.readingfestivalofcrimewriting.org.uk

Tomorrow (Friday) until Sunday. Festival box office 0118 960 6060 or online at www.readingarts.com
