Emole stands at 6ft 6in and comes having played on the defensive line at California Polytechnic State University last season.

Knights’ Head Coach Andy Hollands believes the signing is a coup for the side, and he can’t wait for the 290lbs beast to get unleashed on opposing sides.

“As soon as Uba arrived, I knew he could be special,” he said. “He hasn’t disappointed. It’s always great to find players who have played before, especially if they’ve played in the US.

“I can’t wait for games to start so he can be unleashed against other teams, instead of against our own in training.”

Hollands’ enthusiasm was equally shared by Knights’ quarterback and captain Ed Hopkins.

He said: “He’s going to be awesome. You’ve got to come see him play this season. After seeing him at practice recently, I’m sure he’ll be the best defensive player to play for the Knights since the Knights’ Hall of Fame linebacker Henry Miller.”

Emole is a law undergraduate, and can’t wait to get started this season, having rediscovered his love for the game since joining.

“It is quite similar to playing in the US,” he said. “Training here has made me remember some things which I was taught when I first started playing, so really training is quite similar.

“I’d say the biggest difference is that it’s a lot more relaxed.

“When I trained with California State, the team would get up every morning and go to the gym to work out; it was very much a lifestyle and less fun over there, whilst here it is more relaxed.

“It has given me a new lease of life on American Football and has really given me the enthusiasm to play again.

“I’m really looking forward to seeing what the competition is like and how the games differ from playing in the US.

“The only thing I’m not looking forward to is the cold weather.”
