The up-and-coming 21-year-old is hoping to meet one his his heroes, former four-time world champion Miguel Cotto, and even spar with him.

Freddie Roach’s Wild Card Gym has produced some of the biggest names in boxing including the legendary Manny Pacquiao, world champion over eight divisions who will fight Timothy Bradley in a rematch in Las Vegas this Saturday.

And light-middleweight Mucha is relishing the chance to brush shoulders with the legends of the sport.

He told the Chronicle: “This is part of the next step for me and I can’t wait to get to California.

“Miguel Cotto is one of my favourite fighters. Having the opportunity to see him train will be a dream and I may ask him for a few sparring lessons.”

And he added: “My manager, Chris Sanigar, is trying to arrange a fight for me out in California. If not, the experience I get from two weeks of training over there will be invaluable.”

Mucha’s rise to fame continued last week when he was invited to meet Mayor Marian Livingston in the Mayor’s Parlour at Reading’s Civic Centre in recognition of his achievements in the sport.

The highly-promising gloveman was an impressive winner in his latest

light-middleweight contest at Rivermead Leisure Complex last month. In his first appearance in front of his home-town fans, he won all eight rounds against the vastly-more experienced Max Maxwell from Birmingham.

Mucha said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my meeting with Mayor Livingston. I was a bit nervous but her passion for local sports made the conversation free flowing. It was more productive than I expected.”

Mucha, unbeaten in eight fights, has now been invited to take part in the upcoming Reading Children’s Festival which runs from May 10 - June 1.

“I received an invitation to hold a boxing tester session at the Reading Children’s Festival,” he added. “This will be a great opportunity for me to play my part in promoting local sports and also inspire the next generation of local boxers.”
