The 21-year-old will take on Aldershot’s Adam Battle in a welterweight clash to be broadcast live on Channel 5.

It will be the first time a Reading boxer has fought on home soil in almost a decade and the up-and-coming Mucha is determined to put on a show for his fans.

Speaking exclusively to the Chronicle he said: “My preparation has been tremendous. It’s my first hometown fight as a professional and it’s the biggest night of boxing in Reading since Michael Sprott fought in 2004.

“I’ve gone to great lengths to make sure I have trained properly for this fight, I feel I am in great shape.

“I’m hoping I can put on a great performance. I have left no stone unturned.”

Mucha will fight on the undercard of the main event - the vacant British light heavyweight title clash between English champion Bob Ajisafe and Basingstoke’s Sean Francis.

He will be joined by fellow Reading boxers Ricky O’Brien and Thomas Jarvis who will also be in action along with Slough’s John Brennan.

Zimbabwe-born Mucha - who has won all seven of his professional fights so far - recently returned from an intense training camp in Scotland alongside former WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns and European featherweight champion, Lee Selby.

“Meeting these guys and training with them really motivated and inspired me. It gave me a glimpse of what is possible if I keep working hard,” added Mucha, who spent most of this went at the TNT gym in Bridgewater Close working with strength and conditioning coach, Sam Fleetwood.

“Being in Scotland took me away from my comfort zone and I feel that give me an advantage going into the fight.

“Hopefully I can do well on the night and bring some big fights back to Reading.”
