READING Hockey Club's Laura Bartlett scored a superb solo goal to help Great Britain women's hockey team beat Belgium 3-0 at the Riverbank Arena.

The victory is GB's third straight success and means they need just a point from their remaining two matches to qualify for the semi-finals.

Missing captain Kate Walsh, who is still recovering from a broken jaw sustained in the opening clash with Japan, the hosts got the opening breakthrough shortly before half time when Slough's Ashleigh Ball struck.

Bartlett doubled the advantage in the second half when she skilfully received the ball, twisted and then reverse flicked the ball past the goalkeeper as she was falling.

Reading's Beth Storry pulled off a couple of fine stops to prevent Belgium clawing a goal back and Crista Cullen rounded off the scoring late on.

Next up for GB is China, third in the group on four points, on Saturday (4pm).
