Redmond gives hopes to all coaches

Motivational: Derek Redmond says that a torn hamstring which prevented him from winning a silver medal at the Barcelona Olympics in 1992 has had a positive effect on his life. Derek, 45, is leading the Berkshire Coaching Conference at Wellington College this week.
With tears streaming down his face Derek Redmond crossed the finish line of the 400m sprint in the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games a broken man, half carried in the arms of his father, a torn hamstring robbing him of the chance of a silver medal.
Eighteen years on that heart-rending image is still remembered, inspiring not just athletes, but people from all walks of life in a way the Olympic medal never would have.
Since then, Derek has played for the GB basketball team and had a brief foray into rugby
