IN the County Pairs, Twyford’s Phil Rose and Paul Hynes endured a very bad start, losing six on the first end before the game evened out, and after 21 ends it was 18-18.

In the extra end, Desborough were holding three, but Rose had the last wood and triumphantly took the game 19-18.

In Division Three of the Kennet League, Twyford beat Wargrave 74-63 (12-2 on points).

Twyford lost four of the five rinks in their mixed triples against Shiplake, Rose – who was losing on the 17th end – claiming a sneaky four on the last to secure the solitary victory.

  • BERKSHIRE men recorded another good win in the national Middleton Cup on Saturday, beating Surrey 114-94 in the second round.

The Royal County got off to a good start and stayed ahead throughout the game to win five of the six rinks.

Top Rink for Berkshire was skipped by Gary Stacey with Darren Holder, Chris Cadman and Scott Edwards. They were plus nine shots.
