IF you were out on the rivers last weekend then your target fish had to be chub with the low water temperatures putting most other species off feeding.

There were three matches on RDAA venues with only one on the river and two on the canals.

Tilehurst Royal British Legion fished the Wallingford B section of the Thames and true to form it was chub that won the match.

Tony Tibble took the honours with three of the species to weigh in 13lbs 4ozs.

Second place went to Liam Page Smith with two chub plus one roach which took the scales down to 9lbs.

Andy Chapman took the final top-three place with 8lbs 15ozs, which consisted of two small chub plus three perch, one of which was 2lbs.

Pangbourne A.C. fished their match on the A section of Froxfield and nine anglers amassed 15lbs 8ozs.

Top spot was claimed by match secretary Dave Dudman with 4lbs of roach and skimmers.

Mark Holmes claimed second spot with 3lbs 8ozs which included a perch of 1lb 14ozs.

Mick Seward completed the trio with 2lbs 6ozs of roach and skimmers.

Bracknell Avocets’ last match saw everyone blank, so seven anglers turned out for this match on Froxfield B section of the Kennet & Avon Canal with high expectations from a venue renown for good catches.

The weather was sunny, bright and cold with an upstream wind.

Unfortunately, the wind picked up after the start of the match making control of the pole hard work.

There were two dry nets and two with a couple of small fish each.

The overall match weight was 10lbs 6ozs. The winner was Dave Brooks with 4lbs 3ozs.

Second place went to Terry Smith with 3lbs 2ozs and third was Richard Herman Snr with 2lbs 12ozs.
