LAST Sunday saw the RDAA monthly match held on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Froxfield near Hungerford.

A total of 49 anglers were booked in and the total match weight was 151lbs 14ozs on the day.

The top three teams on the day were Reading Fishing Club with 48lbs 15ozs, T.R.B.L.A.S with 37lbs 1oz and Courage/SE with 12lbs 37ozs.

The match was won by Andy Woolsey of Reading Fishing Club. Fishing the “Gate Peg” on Froxfield A section, he banked an all-skimmer bream net with fish up to 2lbs to record a weight of 12lbs 14ozs.

Mick Stanley was second overall. Fishing the first peg below Lock 70 on Froxfield C Section, Stanley banked skimmer bream to 2lbs along with dace and roach to weigh in 10lbs 2ozs.

Chris Humphreys of TRBLAS was third overall. He fished the first peg below the overhead power cables on Froxfield A short pound section and banked skimmers, roach and perch to record a weight of 9lbs 14ozs.

George Callaghan from Reading Fishing Club claimed fourth spot with 8lbs 13ozs and in fifth place was Dave Cowley (TRBLAS) with 6lbs 2ozs.

Reading Fishing Club have won the club championship and despite not being able to fish this match due to the flu, Phil Allen of Reading Civil Service, held on to his lead to win the points and the individual weight trophies.

These will all be presented at the RDAA annual dinner at the Calcot Hotel on Friday, April 27.

The last RDAA match of the season will be held at Froxfield on Sunday, February 18. This will be a teams-of-four match.
