LAST weekend saw snow, swollen rivers and cold temperatures, the anglers nightmare.

There were four matches booked on RDAA venues, with two on the River Kennet and two on the Kennet and Avon canal.

Tring Anglers were booked in on Beat Four of the Kennet, but cancelled due to high water levels.

TRBLAS used the Burghfield River stretch for their match.

This venue has not been producing of late, but it would appear the increased flow bought the bigger fish onto the feed.

Top spot was taken by Simon Couling with a barbel of 11lbs 6ozs. Two chub were needed for Richard Mundy which took the scales down to 8lbs 8ozs. Unfortunately nobody else caught.

Prestcold AC travelled to Hungerford to fish the Froxfield A stretch of the Kennet and Avon canal.

Graham Hawkins took the honours, winning with 4lbs 12ozs which included skimmers and a perch of 2lbs 2ozs.

Roy Green took the runner-up spot with skimmers and silver fish to weigh in 3lbs 4ozs. John Main completed the top trio with 3lbs of silver fish.

Reading Fishing Club used the B section at Froxfield for their match, where they found the going hard. Steve Tucker and Martyn Hicks shared first place with silver fish each where they weighed in 11ozs.

Malcolm Vigor took third place with 5ozs of silver fish.
