A LATE surge from Berkshire helped them gain revenge for their defeat to Rivermead the previous year as they won their Banarette match 123-95.
Things were even at the half-way stage, with the two sides locked at 54-54, but Rivermead gained confidence as Berkshire vice president Terry Davies’ rink – who were level 10-10 in their match – dropped 10 shots in the next three rinks before going on to lose 23-16.
However, the rink skipped by county secretary Colin Brown, from level at 10-10 with Rivermead’s Jack Emmons, took control and raced away to hand in a 24-16 card.
A similar picture emerged from 8-8 after 11 ends when Michael White’s county rink blitzed John Eatwell to win 26-10 and pick up the highest-winning rink prize.
