THIRTY anglers took part in the Reading & District Angling Association open match at Froxfield on the Kennet & Avon Canal at Hungerford on Saturday, December 30.

Total match weight was 65lbs 40zs.

Richard Rosinski of Sensas/A4 claimed first prize. Fishing the first peg below Lock 68 on Froxfield A (Wides), Richard banked five skimmer bream and two decent perch to record 11lbs 11ozs.

Martin Hutchins of Excelsior was second. Fishing the first peg above the overhead power lines on Froxfield A (Short Pound), Martin banked one perch of 1lb 12ozs along with skimmer bream and to record 7lbs 9ozs.

Alan Hughes of Tilehurst Royal British Legion claimed third place after fishing the second peg below the road bridge on Froxfield B, Alan caught five skimmer bream along with perch, roach and gudgeon to record 5lbs 10ozs.

Last Sunday saw the RDAA monthly match held on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

An impressive 45 anglers were booked in and the total match weight was 44lbs 7ozs.

The top three teams on the day were TRBLAS with 12lbs 5ozs, Reading Civil Service with 6lbs 1oz and Courage/SE with 5lbs 7ozs.

Phil Allen of Reading Civil Service claimed the honours by fishing the first peg below Lock 70 on the turning bay section on Froxfield A. Phil banked skimmer bream with roach and perch to record 5lbs 7oz.

Martin Hutchins finished runner-up. Fishing the last peg on Froxfield C, Martin landed skimmer bream, perch and roach to weigh in 5lbs 2ozs.

In third place was Terry Littlewood of TRBLAS. Fishing the fourth peg below the road bridge on Froxfield B, Terry banked skimmers, roach and perch to record 4lbs 1oz.

With only one match remaining. Reading Fishing Club head the club championships with145lbs 4ozs and close behind are TRBLAS with 137lbs 1oz.

The individual weight trophy is topped by Phil Allen of Reading Civil Service with 46lbs 15ozs followed by Tony Tibble of TRBLAS with 43lbs 1oz.

The points trophy leader is again Phil Allen with 46 points ahead of Mick Donohoe in second with 42 points.
