RDAA club matches were light on the ground last week, with only three being held on the River Thames, writes Alan Hughes.

Bracknell Avocets fished the Northmoor stretch of the Upper Thames at Northmoor.

The club saw six anglers turn out and the overall match weight was 20lbs 3ozs.

It was won by Chris Bowman with 6lbs 8ozs of mainly roach.

In second place was Chris Kaye with 4lbs 10ozs and third was Barry Morten with 4lbs 13ozs.

Reading Civil Service used the Wallingford A stretch of the Thames to hold their match and Gordon McGee took the honours with 8lbs 70zs of roach, perch and skimmers.

Richard Munday took the same species, but could only amass 5lbs 6ozs for second spot and third place went to Ian Marcham with 3lbs 10ozs.

Tring Anglers travelled to Benson to fish the Wallingford B stretch.

As has been the norm this season, the Thames has fished exceptionally well especially for the roach, but some larger perch put in appearance and match winner Glen Miller netted one of 2lbs 10ozs and this along with roach and perch gave him 15lbs 10ozs.

Richard Woollard claimed the runner-up spot with 11lbs 14ozs of perch and roach.

Tony Beadle and Andy Allday shared third place with 9lbs 9ozs each.

The Barney Barrington memorial match was fished at the Beale Park stretch of the Thames and this match had an excellent turn out of 63 anglers.

The three top spots were all claimed by Oxford “Drennan” anglers and in top place was Tony Hobbs with 19lbs 2ozs of prime roach.

Second place was claimed by Ian Young with 14lbs 7ozs and last place on the podium went to John Williams with 12lbs 12ozs.

The RDAA Tuesday Club decided to fish the Thames at Wallingford B section and perch and roach were the order of the day.

John Berry took top spot with 15lbs 2ozs. Runner-up was George Callaghan with 10lbs 14ozs and third place went to Alan Hughes with 8lbs 15ozs.

The sections will be: A Section – Burghfield River; B Section – Beat 3B; C Section – Beat 4A; D Section – Beat 4B.
