FIFTY anglers were booked in for last weekend’s RDAA match and up for grabs trophy wise was the Association Cup and the Fericon Press Trophy, writes Alan Hughes.

The match day weather was raining, warm and overcast and with a strong and gusty breeze.

Total match weight on the day was 178lbs 12ozs, (at an average weight of 4lbs 4ozs per angler).

The top three teams were Reading Fishing Club with 38lbs 12ozs, Courage with 35lbs 5ozs and TRBLAS with 30lbs 1oz.

The match was won by Nick Richardson of Adventure AS.

Fishing the first peg upstream of Rosekiln Lane Road Bridge on Beat 4B Section, Richardson banked mainly roach with a few perch fishing stick float tactics, with single caster on the hook, over hemp and caster feed to record a weight of 13lbs 15ozs.

Phil Allen of Reading Civil Service and Paul Mason of Yotac/21 Club were joint second overall. Both recorded a weight of 9lbs 7ozs. Allen was fishing on the last peg on the venue on Beat 4B Section.

He banked an all-roach catch, fishing a combination of stick float and waggler tactics, with single caster on the hook, over hemp and caster feed.

Paul Mason was fishing on the Sandbags peg on Beat 5A section.

He also banked an all-roach catch, fishing a combination of stick float tactics with single caster on the hook, over hemp and caster feed, and waggler tactics with single and double red maggot on the hook over maggot feed.

In fourth place was Tony Tibble of TRBLAS with 8lbs 13ozs and fifth was Simon Copson of Courage S/E with 8lbs 10ozs that included a barbel of 5lbs 13ozs.

The total section weights were: A Section Beat 3B, 28lbs 11ozs; B Section Beat 4A, 22lbs 3ozs; C Section Beat 4B, 64lbs 6ozs; D Section Beat 5A, 27lbs 2ozs; and finally E Section Beat 5B 36lbs 6ozs.

Reading Fishing Club top the Club Championship with 105lbs 4ozs and TRBLAS follow with 100lbs 3ozs.

The Individual Aggregate Weight Trophy is headed by Tibble with 38lbs 2ozs and in second place is Allen with 32lbs 14ozs. Mick Donohoe tops the points table with 24 followed by Tibble with 22.

The RDAA Tuesday Club held their weekly match on the Prom at Reading on the River Thames and they found the roach feeding despite the lack of flow.

Steve Lewis took the honours with 19lbs of the species.

The runner-up was Martin Wickson with 14lbs and completing the trio was John Berry with 9lbs 13ozs, both with the same species.
