LAST Sunday saw only two RDAA Affiliated Club matches on RDAA venues and these were both on the River Kennet.

T.R.B.L.A.S were booked on to the Beat 3B stretch at Fobney Island.

Reports have indicated this venue is showing some good barbel catches, but the secret to landing them has proved difficult for some anglers.

This was not the case for match winner Tony Tibble, who netted one good specimen of the species that weighed in at 10lbs11ozs and this along with some” silvers” amounted to 12lbs 5ozs.

Weights then dropped with Fred Jones catching silvers to take the runner-up spot with 3lbs 8ozs.

Tony Green completed the top three with 3lbs 1oz but also lost big fish.

The Ufton River section of the Kennet hosted Newtown A.C. and they could only get small silver fish to feed, but Terry Smith managed to weigh in 5lbs 14ozs of the species to claim a fairly easy first place.

John Clements claimed the runner-up spot with 1lb 11ozs and completing the top three was Derek Carter with 1lb 9ozs.

Away from RDAA waters Reading Fishing Club fished their section of the Thames at Child Beale and continuing his good Thames form was Simon Couling who took 20lbs 4ozs of roach and skimmers to the scales to take top spot.

Martin Vigor (also in good Thames form) took the runner-up place with 16lbs 1oz and Martin Hicks, Mike Ravening and Andy Ivens shared third place with 10lbs 11ozs each.
