THERE were no Reading & District Angling Association affiliated club matches last weekend – probably due to holidays, writes Alan Hughes.

Reading Fishing Club fished their match on their River Thames water at Beale Trust and with the Thames fishing really well some high weights were expected.

The match was won by Simon Couling who managed to put 25lbs 110zs on to the scales. It consisted of mainly silver fish, but he did have a bonus bream of 6lbs.

The runner-up spot was taken by Malcolm Vigor who weighed in 18lbs 12ozs which again was mainly silver fish.

Completing the top trio was Andy Woolsey with similar species that totalled 16lbs 1oz.

Tilehurst Royal British Legion (T.R.B.L A.S) fished on the Goring stretch of the Thames and all of the anglers caught fish, mainly roach and skimmer bream.

Liam Page-Smith led the field with 18lbs 2ozs of whip caught silvers. Paul Leek took second place with 14lbs 1oz and third spot went to Tony Tibble with 13lbs 6ozs. Equal fourth place went to Andy Chapman and Terry Littlewood who each had 13lbs each.

The RDAA Tuesday Club travelled to Wallingford to fish the A section on the River Thames.

Terry Littlewood completed a good weekend taking the honours with an all silver fish net that totalled 12lbs 2ozs. Dave Bosher took the second spot with 9lbs 6ozs that included a good 6lb tench. Third place went to Alan Hughes with 8lbs 8ozs of silvers.

This Sunday will see the second of the sssociation matches on the Kennet.

It will be fished between Burghfield and County Lock. The draw will be at Farnham Flint at 8am.
