BULMERSHE Gymnastic Club’s artistic youngsters dominated the Berkshire Full Apparatus Championship at Phoenix GC in Windsor, coming home with four of the age group titles.

In the In-Age section, nine-year-old Lauren Saunders won the Level 3 competition with a total score of 48.00.

While she performed consistently throughout, it was her Yurchenko prep vault which stood out, with a difficulty rating of 4.0 and a score of 13.4.

Zennor Tejani, aged eight, secured gold in the Level 5 competition with a total score of 46.85.

Alice Bruun became the Level 3 champion for 11/12 year olds with a total score of 47.7 including a mighty 13.1 score on the apparatus.

Emma Kendall, aged 12, won the Level 2 all-around competition for 12/13 year olds. Emma used six new moves in her routines, including a one-and-a-half twisting somersault on the floor.

A number of Bulmershe girls also won individual apparatus medals, including Amelie Thorne, 12, who secured the silver on the floor and vault with a tuck Tsukahara as well as the all-around bronze medal in the Level 2 Out of Age (OOA) competition.

Kaylee Doyle won overall bronze in the Level 3 OOA, while Amelie Bowles took the overall silver in the Level 4 In Age category and a gold on the vault.

The younger girls also performed well with Sophie Marsden, 10, winning gold on the bars and bronze overall in the Level 4 OOA competition for 10/11 year olds.

In the same category Demi Markman won the individual vault with a score of 12.3, just pipping teammate Darcy Thorne into silver.

Aimee Lovell just missed out on the medals, but came fourth on the beam and fifth on the floor and bars.

As a result, all the Bulmershe girls comfortably qualified for the South Region Championships in October, with many personal bests.

In the Level 6 competition, Bulmershe’s youngest competitive gymnasts performed confidently as the all-around silver went to Mollie Haswell, 7, with 46.0, just 0.15 ahead of Mariah Licorish who took the bronze.

Evgeniya Nikishina vaulted her way to the gold, and bronze on bars, while Mia Stevenson took gold on the bars and India Nicholls the silver on the bars.

Senior coach Katherine Golding-Gale beamed: “All the girls have added difficulty to their routines so I was chuffed how well they performed. It’s important we prepare the girls mentally as well as physically, so these results will help build their confidence.”
