A MIXED Berkshire team beat Maidenhead Town 140-81 in a friendly to mark the club side’s 75th anniversary.

Top Rink for the county was skipped by Norah Holder with David Davies (men’s county President), Val Oakley (ladies’ county President) – and Gerry Hicks. They were plus 17 shots.

The most successful rink for the hosts was skipped by Tim Eales with Clive Knowles, Bridget Greiner and Helen Cutche, and they were plus six shots.

  • THE University of Reading Bowling Club lost 94-70 against Burghfield, although they did secure six of the 14 Oddfellows Triples League points on offer.

In the Thames Valley Ladies League, the University claimed a 10-0 points win at Island Bohemian, winning all three rinks and the match 56-38.

  • THREE Mile Cross lost 79-70 (10-4 on points) to Sunningdale in their Kennet League Division Two East table.

Three Mile Cross A were victorious in the Kennet League LV Division One central clash at Island Bohemian, recording a 66-44 (8-2) success.

The B team beat Palmer Park 46-41 (8-2) in Division Two, and Three Mile Cross edged out Desborough Bluebells 56-54 (6-4) in the Thames Valley Ladies League.

The club enjoyed friendly victories against Hurst and Old Basing, but suffered losses to Oakley and Great Hollands, the latter being a ladies only match.

Another high spot was the fact the club’s youngest bowler, 15-year-old Callum Cox, was selected to play for Berkshire Under 25s in their game at Thatcham versus Surrey.
