READING Racers host Southern Development League leaders Kent Kestrels in their second fixture this Saturday.

Racers will be looking to move back into second place at their adopted home – Eastbourne’s Arlington Stadium – after Weymouth moved ahead of them at the weekend, albeit only on points difference.

The Racers, Wildcats, Plymouth and Exeter all sit on two points, with Reading having ridden the least amount of matches.

Nick Laurence makes his debut for the Racers, the Eastbourne local still celebrating a promotion in the riding order at his National League club Lakeside, and will be looking to impress the Reading management for the rest of the season.

Captain Luke Harris is in the middle of a busy spell, and was unbeaten in a grass track event at the weekend, as well as racing against the USA World Cup team in a warm up at Mildenhall.

Kent replace Alex Spooner with Andrew Palmer due to a collarbone injury, and also include 15-year-old Anders Rowe, who was allegedly named after Reading’s 1970’s Swedish icon Anders Michanek.

Saturday’s teams: Reading Racers: Luke Harris, Stephen Whitehouse, Nick Laurence, William O’Keefe.

Kent Kestrels: Anders Rowe, James Laker, Andrew Palmer, Bradley Andrews.
