LP Hurricanes took the honours in their top-of-the-table battle with Aces as they came out 37-33 victors.
Aces started strongly, with their player-of-the-match Natalie Alleyne and Jess Dunn picking up interceptions in the circle.
The turnovers were converted by GS Sarah Clarke, scoring from long-range shots to ensure Aces led 11-4 after the first quarter.
Hurricanes returned to court with renewed fight and scored several quick goals, GS Shelli Read shooting confidently despite good pressure from Alleyne.
LP pulled back to within two goals at half time, and the third quarter saw both teams maintain the intensity and went goal for goal throughout, Aces holding on to their lead.
In the final quarter Hurricanes evened the score in the first two minutes, and GK and LP’s star player Eloise McIntyre put pressure on the Aces attacking feeds into the circle and picked up several turnovers.
Hurricanes worked the ball well up the court, and despite a great effort by the Aces’ defence, they pulled away in the last five minutes to take a four-goal win in a closely-fought match.
