READING super-welterweight Konrad Stempkowski has got his boxing career moving again.

Stempkowski returned from a seven-month break to outpoint Lukasz Kuc in London earlier this month – and the 33 year old is due back in the ring at the York Hall in Bethnal Greenon Saturday.

“Boxing is a young man’s game,” said Stempkowski, “so at this stage, I need to be fighting regularly.

“I’m looking to build on my latest win and there’s talk that if I keep winning, I could fight for a challenge belt by the end of the year.”

Stempkowski kept on course for that by outpointing Polish fighter Kuc at the Millennium Hotel.

He won every round on the referee’s scorecard and said: “It was a good fight.

“He was heavier than me and really tried to take me out.

“But I just stuck to the game plan.

“I had to keep moving and keep him on the end of my punches – and that’s what I did.

“I had a seven-month break and that fight was just what I needed.”

Also on the show at the Millennium Hotel, Reading lightweight Ibrar Riyaz chalked up a win.

He outpointed Yaddollah Ghasemi over four rounds.

Fellow Reading fighter, Gelasius Taaru, is also due to fight at York Hall this coming Saturday.

Tickets for the show at the York Hall are available from 07941 431874.
