THE Whiteknights triple of Morgan Merryweather, Sally Windmill and Cheryl Colby were victorious in the Berkshire Ladies’ triples final following a dramatic extra-end triumph against Rivermead.
The Knights got off to a flying start, picking up a six on the fourth end to go 10 shots ahead.
However, the Rivermead triple of Teresa Slark, Carol Walker and Pat Fowkes fought back and, on the last end, picked up four shots to make the score 16-16.
It was the Whiteknights team which held their nerve, however, and they were presented with the Paine Shield, while the Olive Barber Shield for runners-up went to the Rivermead triple.
In the pairs shoot-out, the finalists both came from the Whiteknights club, and it was Windmill and Merryweather who completed a double success with a 26-7 win against Caroline Mabley and Sandra Kemp.
The victors received the Jean Lyons-Hill Trophy, while Mabley and Kemp collected the Val Ryan Shield.
