MORE than 100 children took part in the annual cross-country competition on a fresh spring afternoon at The Oratory School.

Known as the Greyhound Run, the teams ran a 3.5k course round the school grounds and neighbouring farmland, following “the hare”.

In a challenging run, the teams were divided into Year Six and Year Seven groups, with Abingdon Prep School winning both races.

Runners-up in the Year Six Team event were The Oratory Prep School and Sunningdale came second in the older contest.

Abingdon’s Joseph Torlage won the individual race in the younger criteria, while his schoolmate William D’Arcy won the Year Seven race.

He beat Henry Channon from New College School, while Quin Miell-Ingram came second in the Year Six competition.
