KINGFISHER B were impressive 10-0 winners in their Reading & District League Division One game against Tidmarsh A.

Our Lady of Peace B proved too strong for relegated Sonning Common & Peppard B with Yonatan Slobodskoy, Steve Miller and Harry Munro all getting maximums in a 10-0 win.

Our Lady of Peace A were 10-0 winners against a two-man YMCA side, who are now condemned to a bottom-two finish, Dave Halfpenny unlucky to lose 6-11 11-7 12-10 4-11 12-14 to Krasimer Ivanov.

Martin Gunn and Martin Adams both got hat-tricks as Kingfisher A beat Sonning Common & Peppard A 8-2, while two-man Kingfisher B downed Kingfisher D 7-3, Hari Gehlot and Philp Zeng with trebles.

Tidmarsh A won a hard-fought match with Kingfisher C 7-3, Tony Reynolds with a treble for Kingfisher that included a 10-12 11-9 12-10 12-10 win over Sam Ricks.

In Division Two, a fine win by Nick Lean over Niall McGrane in the final match of the night saw Curzon Club A beat Sonning Common & Peppard E 6-4, McGrane winning 11-5 13-11 9-11 8-11 11-8.

John Willcock’s had earlier clinched a treble for Curzon Clubt.

Danny Dockree’s fine form continued as his treble helped Sonning Common & Peppard C to a 6-4 win at Our Lady of Peace C, Matt Stone winning twice while Jon Abbott clinched the win by beating Clive Perry 11-8 11-6 11-8.

Pangbourne WMC A were 7-3 winners at promoted Kingfisher F, John Simmonds early victory over Ivor Hardman 11-4 13-15 11-6 8-11 13-11 proving crucial alongside hard-fought doubles from Denise Weller and Simon Hopkins. Champions Kingfisher G lost 6-4 at third-placed Tidmarsh B, Jon Golding with a fine maximum for Tidmarsh.

Pangbourne WMC B became the first team to clinch promotion from Division Three this season with a resounding 9-1 success over Sonning Sports A. A trio of maximums for Ray Webb, Clive Taylor and Leroy Wilson, while the Sports were indebted to Keith Machin and reserve Florin Dimofte for saving the whitewash with a win in the doubles.

Tidmarsh C are favourites to claim the second promotion spot despite dropping a point in a fluctuating drawn encounter at Milestone A. There were no individual maximums in this match - but two players on each side notched a double - Simon Barter and Chris Webb for Tidmarsh with Chris Collins and Arun Rajagopal replying in kind for Milestone.

Tidmarsh now need just a point from their two remaining matches to claim promotion - these matches including a Division Three title decider against leaders Pangbourne next week.

The only other promotion contenders, Springfield A, had a busy week with two matches - but, having finished their programme, are now relying on Tidmarsh to slip up.

Their expected 6-4 win against Tilehurst Methodists B included a first maximum of the season for Ludovic Couillard, but their 6-4 defeat at Kingfisher H will probably prove crucial in the final analysis.

Phil Burke hit two maximums in the week, but an inspired display by Kingfisher saw them home by the narrowest of margins - two wins apiece for Willis Ma and Igor Sremac who also combined for a five-game win in the doubles - with Peter Bennett winning the other set.

In the inter-club battle at the bottom of the table Tilehurst Methodists C picked up just their fourth point of the season in a 5-5 draw with a two-man Tilehurst Methodists B, for whom Jes Eassom hit a fine maximum and reserve Chis Taylor notched a single.

Our Lady of Peace D continued their revival with a 7-3 win at Kingfisher J, a maximum for Dave Holt and two wins apiece for Wendy Porter and Alistair Richardson, while Nils Wedi hit a double in reply for the home side.

Curzon Club B had a fine 7-3 win over Reading FC A in Division Four thanks mainly to a Geoff Johnson hat-trick which included a long expedite set against Jazz Dhillon when it took five-and-a-half minutes before the first point was gained in one game.

Jim Brent won two and Derek Harrison had a nice win over Dhillon.

Curzon Club C gained a vital 7-3 over Tidmarsh D at the bottom with John Walker, Linda King and Carine Bey all gaining doubles. Terry Hardie was in top form for Tidmarsh by winning all three.

Our Lady of Peace E moved out of the bottom two by winning 6-4 at Tilehurst Methodists D thanks mainly to a great hat-trick from Abhay Gore.

Sonning Common & Peppard F kept their promotion hopes alive by beating Kingfisher K 7-3 with Angus Jones getting another great treble, while Tilehurst Methodists E had a great 5-5 draw at second- placed Springfield B, but this point could not prevent them from going down. Steve Dopson tried in vain by obtaining a great maximum, but sadly it was not enough to save his team from the drop.

In Division Five, Our Lady of Peace F got back to winning ways with an 8-2 victory over Reading FC C, Hari Laddunuri leading the way with his second maximum of the season, assisted by doubles from both Laurence de Ste Croix and Andrew Adair, Derek Anderson recording the two wins for Reading FC. Tidmarsh E bounced back from last week’s defeat to win 8-2 at the BBC Club, thanks to maximums from both Pete Sinclair and Steve Andrews, along with a single from Bob Sunerton while, for the BBC Club, Jack Mitchell and John Lancashire both won one each.

Springfield D were leading 5-2 and close to taking both points before Sonning Common & Peppard G staged a magnificent comeback by winning the final three sets, to draw the match 5-5.

Paul Martin and Colin Jones each won one set, while Stephen Leggett was denied a maximum when Jamie Legg won their 10th set encounter, Legg also ending the evening with two wins, as did Mikey Legg, with teammate Jim McClure winning the eighth set to start the fightback.

Milestone C were beaten 8-2 by Kingfisher L who kept themselves in the hunt for the runners-up spot, thanks to a further maximum for Clive Gold, along with doubles for both Meriel Low and Ken Robb, Milestone’s two wins courtesy of John Evans.

By winning the 10th set Florin Dimofte recorded another maximum and helped Sonning Sports B earn a point against Sonning Common & Peppard H, Sally James chipping in with a vital singles win before combining with Dimofte to win the doubles, while two wins apiece for Gerry Bacon and Mike Casserley, along with a singles win for Julian James earned Sonning Common their point in this 5-5 draw.
