PHIL Mead and Calin Spicica trebles denied Sonning Common & Peppard B a point as they lost 6-4 at Kingfisher D in Division One of the Reading & District League.

Our Lady of Peace A beat their two-man B team club mates 7-3, while Joe Barraclough and Gary Morgan both got trebles as Sonning Common & Peppard A beat Kingfisher C 7-3 to go fourth.

In Division Two, an Ivor Hardman treble and two wins from Richard Leachman saw second-placed Kingfisher F win 6-4 against Kingfisher G, with the result confirming both side’s promotion.

Tidmarsh C were 7-3 winners at Curzon Club A, Barry Carter earning a fine treble.

At the bottom, Tilehurst Methodists A beat two-man Sonning Common & Peppard E 7-3, and Pangbourne WMC raced away to beat Kingfisher E 10-0 with trebles from John Simmonds, Simon Hopkins and Denise Weller.

Division Three leaders Pangbourne WMC B lost 6-4 at fellow promotion hopefuls Springfield A – Phil Burke with yet another maximum for the victors, while Ray Webb and Leroy Wilson each hit a double for Pangbourne.

Our Lady of Peace D continued their move up the table with an 8-2 success over two-man Tilehurst Methodists B – Dave Godfrey with two wins.

Sonning Sports A produced a great team performance to defeat high-flying Milestone A 7-3 with a maximum for Keith Machin and two for Bob Woodmansee.

Finally, Kingfisher I defeated basement team Tilehurst Methodists C 6-4 despite a maximum for Masoud Ghabachi.

In Division Four, Ruben Hernandez starred for Kingfisher K by winning all three to help his side gain a draw with Tilehurst Methodists D.

Milestone B went further clear at the top by winning 7-3 at Our Lady of Peace E with Zoltan Kelemen and Sachin Mundra both gaining trebles. Tilehurst Methodists E went down 6-4 to Reading FC A, for whom Jazz Dhillon hit a fine treble.

Curzon Club C held Sonning Common & Peppard F to a draw as Geoff Johnson with three wins and Jim Brent with a double did the business.

Tidmarsh D drew 5-5 with Springfield B also ended in a draw with four players gaining doubles. For Tidmarsh it was Terry Hardie and Dave Edwards and for Springfield it was Rob Wilkie and Peter Gurney.

In Division Five, a Bob Sunerton double helped Tidmarsh E to a 6-4 victory over Reading FC C, Steve Andrews adding a maximum. Reading also lost their next match 6-4 at Kingfisher L, for whom Clive Gold was the star winning the final set to record another maximum. Wayne Alleyne got doubles in both defeats for Reading FC.

Tidmarsh E lost 7-3 to Milestone C with John Evans recording a further maximum.

Our Lady of Peace F were held to a 5-5 draw by Springfield D, with Laurence de Ste Croix bagging a maximum.

Sonning Common & Peppard G lost 6-4 to their H team, for whom Gerry Bacon and Julian James both recorded doubles.

Reading FC B kept themselves in contention for the runners-up spot with a comprehensive 10-0 victory over Sonning Sports B, with Paul Brown, Joe Bull and Keith Greene all recording maximums.

In the Team Handicap Cup semi-finals, Our Lady of Peace E beat Milestone A 7-2, Tamir Slobodskoy unbeaten on the night. Milestone B fell to Reading FC A 5-4 in an exciting match.

In the Lower Divisions Knock-out cup, Tidmarsh D defeated Our Lady of Peace E 6-3 to reach the final.
