A GROUP of young fundraisers from Caversham have raised a phenomenal £800 by holding a Sponsored Throw to support the British Heart Foundation’s (BHF) lifesaving research.

Caversham Judo Club held the event in aid of the BHF, after their instructor had a heart attack a few years earlier.

This is the first time they have held the fundraiser and the money raised will help the BHF fund even more lifesaving research.

Club instructor, Lennie Wheeler, said “We’re delighted to have raised this amount for the BHF’s life saving research. It was an amazing day with lots of people coming together to fight heart disease, so thank you to everyone who made it a success.”

Lewis Honeywill, BHF fundraising manager for Berkshire, added: “We’re so grateful to the young members of Caversham Judo Club for raising an incredible sum.

“Their energy and enthusiasm is helping us win the fight for every heartbeat, and we would like to say a huge thank-you to them for their ongoing support.”

He concluded: “There are around seven million people in the UK living with heart and circulatory disease and thanks to the Caversham Judo Club we’ll be able to fund even more research into these conditions.”
