THE combined team of Sussex House and St Paul’s were crowned triumphant in the National Schools Handicap Doubles recently.
A total of six pairs took part in the event at The Oratory School, in Woodcote, with the teams playing an initial round robin stage before battling off handicaps.
The quality of play was outstanding and almost all of the matches were very close, with more than half of them going to a deciding game.
Sussex/St Paul’s topped the group stage of the competition, with The Oratory Prep School also reaching the final after winning their head-to-head against Wycombe Abbey.
In an entertaining final, Sussex/St Paul’s again showed their class in order to edge to a 6-4 victory to take the trophy.
