However, this victory was reliant upon another Laurence de Ste Croix maximum, which merited his fourth consecutive player-of-the-match award, and a single from Andrew Adair, with Reading FC B’s wins courtesy of a brace from Joe Bull and singles from both Paul Brown and Greene.

Springfield D succumbed to a sixth successive defeat, this time losing 6-4 to Reading FC C, for whom Derek Anderson led the way with a maximum and Wayne Alleyne abetted with a brace while, for Springfield, Stephen Leggett won two and Paul Martin and Colin Jones each won one.

Against Sonning Sports B, Tidmarsh E recorded their first 10-0 win, with maximums for Pete Sinclair, Steve Andrews and newly registered Isaac Davies, who appears to have carried on from where he left off last season.

A Gerry Bacon maximum and a brace from Julian James was only sufficient to earn Sonning Common & Peppard H a point, after Milestone C’s Colin Phillips won the final set to draw the match and ensure his team only their second point of the season. However, this draw was only possible because Tony Hayden and Carl Edlind, who won one and two sets respectively, also combined to win the doubles.
