RIVERMEAD BC edged to a nerve-jangling 109-108 victory in their Bannerette match against a Berkshire representative side.
Although winning on just two of the six rinks, a 28-13 victory by Peter Cowen’s rink of David Parker, Peter James and Trevor Newbrook proved decisive in Rivermead’s hard-fought win.
While the Rivermead rink skipped by Tony Willey also handed in an impressive 23-14 winning card, it was Terry Stevens’ trio who took the headlines as they came away with a “hot shot”, taking a count of eight on one end.
From 11-10 down, Berkshire President Maurice Rymer’s rink took eight unanswered shots to win 18-11 as he led a county charge for the line.
Berkshire took a cumulative 20 shots in the last four ends, only to fall one short.
- WHITEKNIGHTS made the most of taking an early lead against Hayes & District to continue their excellent form with a 116-79 success.
Top rink for the Knights was skipped by Clark Balaques with Angelo Ciliberti, Peter Aylett and Reg Colton. They were plus 22 shots.
