THE Berks and Bucks Football Association are to roll their roadshow into Reading.

It will offer an opportunity for all those involved in the game to discuss important topics with county officials.

B&B officials will give out dates on proposed changes to their cup competitions, while football development and discipline, including the abuse of match officials, will also be on the agenda.

The roadshow’s first port of call is Abingdon on Thursday, February 16 with Reading being the next on Wednesday, March 1. The start time is 7.30pm with the venue being decided once B&B have some idea of how many plan to attend.

Other venues will be Milton Keynes on March 8, Slough on March 15, Wycombe a day later and Aylesbury on April 12.

  • READING Hockey Club have re-registered Susie Gilbert with England Hockey following her return from New Zealand, where she has been playing for Midlands in the National League.

And that could mean the 27-year-old international midfielder is prepared to help Blues in their bid for Premier Division survival.

She was bitterly disappointed not to have been selected for the Rio Olympics, but has retained her place in Danny Kerry’s much-changed squad for the new four-year cycle that leads to the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.

Reading desperately need a player of Gilbert’s experience in a bid to change their fortunes around after managing just one point in their first 10 games, leaving them in serious relegation trouble.

There is a further boost for the Sonning Lane club with Scotland goalkeeper Amy Gibson back in training.

A long-term injury has prevented her from playing since she joined Reading last summer.

  • THE eight Berkshire county cricketers running in the Wokingham Half Marathon on February 12 to raise funds for Build Africa are close to reaching their modest target of £1,000.

Yesterday their Just Giving page showed the amount raised so far stood at £910 following 27 donations.

I have heard that some of the Berkshire players plan to ‘reward’ themselves for their exertions around the streets of Wokingham with a trip to South Africa.
