READING Athletic Club youngsters were among the medals in the Berkshire Schools Cross Country Championships at Chieveley on Saturday as they collected a first, two seconds and a third individually.
Chey Blatchford-Kemp, running in the colours of Blessed Hugh Faringdon, dominated the senior 7km race, securing an impressive 30-second victory in a time of 23m 38secs.
Sam Rodda (Highdown) finished fourth in 24:40, and Isaac Farnworth (Maiden Erlegh) came sixth in 25:06.
Joe Steveni and Mikey Lennon (both Reading School) were ninth and 10th in 26:53 and 27:02, with Ben Corless (Piggott), 13th in 28:11.
In the intermediate 5.5km race, Eddie Steveni took second place in 18:44, leading his Blue Coat team to the silver medals.
Ben Rollings (Forest) ran well for 12th in 20:08, ahead of the Piggott pair of Max Martin and Joseph Mott who finished 14th and 15th in times of 20:17 and 20:33 respectively.
Marcus Cleare (Highdown) finished 23rd place in 22:07, while Harry North (Denefield) and Alfie Thomas (Forest) grabbed 33rd and 36th in times of 23:12 and 23:28.
Mattie Raynor finished second in 13:39 in the junior 4km race, while Tom Rickards came third in 13:46.
Leon Bradshaw (Piggott) hung on for fourth in 13:53, while Reuben Henry-Daire came sixth in 13:55 to lead the Reading School team to victory.
Ollie Moor (Willink) and Alfie McGlennon (Forest) ran well for 16th and 17th in times of 14:30 and 14:35, with Tom Crook (Reading School) only just behind in 19th with 14:38.
There were good performances too from Aryan Gupta (Reading School) in 27th (15:08), Dominic Parsons (Emmbrook, 38th, 15:28), Ben McCabe (Reading School, 41st, 15:34) and Tom Bryce (Blue Coat, 57th, 16:02).
Reading also had two athletes in the 2.5km Year Seven race. Harry Moor (Willink) finished 27th in 11:40, while Hugo Domingos (Piggott) came 48th in 12:23.
