LAST weekend saw four clubs out on RDAA waters with one on the River Kennet, one on the Thames and two on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

Tring Anglers visited the Yellow section of Lower Benyons and match secretary Tony Beadle had a good day when expectations were not good.

He fished a maggot feeder with three maggots on the hook to slide the net under three barbel to win the match with 15lbs 12ozs. Second and third places were shared as they only resulted in minnow catches.

Wallingford B section on the Thames was host to Bracknell Avocets where all nine anglers got a soaking in the continuous rain.

The match was won by John Smith with three chub for 7lbs 12ozs fishing the feeder to the far bank. Second spot went to Dermot Murphy with 4ozs and third were three anglers all tied with 3ozs each.

Tilehurst Royal British Legion held their match on the A section of the K & A Canal at Froxfield. Liam Page-Smith took the honours with 7lbs 1oz of perch and skimmers from Peg one on the venue.

Dave White weighed in 6lbs 2ozs of mainly perch from the last peg on the short pound and Jamie Andrews took third place with 4lbs 1oz of similar species from the first peg on the short pound.

South Reading A.C. used the C section of the canal for their match and results were a lot harder than in the upstream section.

Duncan Bales took the top honour with perch and silvers to take 2lbs 12ozs to the scales. Barry Marshall earned the runner-up place with perch for 1lb 4ozs and completing the trio was Tony Green with a level pound of mainly gudgeon.

The RDAA Tuesday Club returned to Whitehouse Lake on the Stacey complex at Tadley. Some anglers struggled for bites while others including John Ambrose had good days.

He took 28lbs of bream to the scales to take top spot. Second was George Callaghan with 21lbs 4ozs that consisted of bream plus one carp. Tony Holdsworth claimed third with 7lbs 6ozs.
