READING Royals dominated the ASA National Age Groups Synchronised Swimming Championships at the GL1 Leisure Centre in Gloucester.

The club were awarded the Mrs Y.M. Price Trophy award after taking the highest combined figure and routine score in the 13-15-year-old age group.

Their swimmers secured a total of nine gold, two silver and two bronze medals during the course of the three-day competition.

Eleanor Blinkhorn secured a brace of golds in the U12 Figures and U12 Solo, while Mimi Gray matched that achievement in the 13-15 age group. Isobel Blinkhorn was runner-up.

Beatrice Crass and Eleanor Blinkhorn triumphed in the U12 Duet gold, with Abigail Taylor and Isabel Turrell winning the 13-15 category ahead of runners-up Anna Welland and Isobel Blinkhorn and bronze medallists Alyssa Basinger and Gray.

Reading also secured gold medals in the U12 Team Combination and 13-15 Team Free.

Their winning performance in the 13-15 Team Free event, which secured them the Mrs Y M Price Trophy, started with a stunning lift which was controlled throughout and showed amazing strength.

The routine, inspired by Snow White and the Huntsman, was sharp and snappy and they held their expressions well and had great changes in pace.

This same group were medallists in the U12 age group in 2014 and 2015, and their experience showed as they came away with a score of 66.4467. This put them more than nine seconds ahead of second place, finishing with 127.3597.

Multiple gold medal winner, Isabelle Blinkhorn, was delighted with the team’s achievement.

She said: “It feels really good to win a gold medal because we have worked really hard all year.

“Our hard work has finally paid off. We just love synchro, everyone in our club has lots of passion and that’s why we have done so well this year.”

There were also third placed finishes for the U12 team and the 15-18 team in the Free event.
