HAT-TRICKS from Harry Munro and Yonaton Slobodskoy gave Our Lady of Peace B a 9-1 win against Sonning Common & Peppard B in Division One.

Reserve Felix Thomis earned two excellent wins against Brian Meheux and Nigel Maltby, as well as running Jeremy Willis close before losing a thriller 3-11 11-7 11-8 10-12 13-15.

Our Lady of Peace A were 9-1 winners against a two-man YMCA side, Neil Hurford’s win over Eduard Caliman the only consolation for depleted YMCA.

Simon Vine managed a fine double for Kingfisher D, but it wasn’t enough to save his team from a derby defeat to Kingfisher B, Hari Gehlot getting a comfortable maximum for the B team.

Sam Ricks' fine treble proved in vain as Tidmarsh A lost 7-3 at Kingfisher C, Ricks beating Marco Essomba in his opener 11-7 11-8 13-11.

Ivor Hardman managed another maximum as Kingfisher F maintained their lead in Division Two with a 7-3 success at Pangbourne WMC A, Hardman winning a tough opening encounter with Denise Weller 14-12 10-12 11-7 12-10. Richard Leachman added a vital single for Kingfisher by beating Denise 11-9 in the fifth.

Steve Ng and David Joyce trebles kept Kingfisher G on course after they impressively beat Tidmarsh B 9-1, while Nial McGrane’s maximum moved Sonning Common & Peppard E up to third after they won 7-3 at Curzon Club A, Malcolm Gregory clinching the match win after holding off Jon Willis 11-13 11-5 10-12 11-8 11-7.

The Tilehurst Methodists A game against Sonning Common & Peppard D went to the wire with Anthony Reeve beating Nigel Rowland 11-9 7-11 12-10 7-11 11-9 in the final set to grab a 6-4 victory for Sonning Common, Andrew Robertson having earlier clinched a maximum.

There are new leaders in Division Three as Tidmarsh C moved a point clear of Pangbourne WMC B, who they meet next week in a battle of the top two – a match which also sees the Webbs – Chris and Ray – go head-to-head.

A good team effort saw Tidmarsh C overcome Milestone A 7-3 – although Milestone did have to play two reserves in this match.

Simon Barter, Dave Sheppard & Chris Webb all hit doubles for Tidmarsh with Chris Collins replying with two good wins for Milestone.

Set-of-the-week in this match - Chris Webb coming back from the brink to defeat Zoltan Kelemen 7-11 10-12 14-12 11-8 13-11.

Pangbourne WMC B were too strong for Sonning Sports A - maximums for Ray Webb & Leroy Wilson in their 7-3 win plus a great win for veteran Eddie Cripps against Dave Chard 11-6 11-2 4-11 12-10. Springfield A were without their 100% man Phil Burke, at home to Kingfisher H - and paid the price with a 7-3 defeat. Igor Sremac was the star for the visitors, only dropping one game on his way to a great treble. Good support from Peter Bennett for Kingfisher with two wins whilst Ludo Couillard lead Springfield's resistance with a double.

In Division Four, Sonning Common & Peppard F had a fine 7-3 away win at Kingfisher K thanks mainly to a great hat-trick from Eric Walker.

With new signing Andy Stephens in their team Tidmarsh D beat Curzon Club C 8–2. Stephens won all three in straight sets. Tilehurst Methodists E and Springfield B shared the spoils with Steve Wood playing well by beating Springfield’s Rob Wilkie. Despite a fine treble from Praeep Desh Our Lady of Peace E went down to Tilehurst Methodists D 7-3. Reading FC A maintained their promotion challenge by beating Curzon Club B 6–4. The vital set was won by Mark Edwards who beat Geoff Johnson 17-15 11-13 9-11 11-4 11-9. In Division 5, Kingfisher L beat Milestone C 8-2, Milestone avoiding the whitewash thanks to a double from John Evans.

For Kingfisher, Clive Gold won all three and both Meriel Low and Ken Robb won two.

Sonning Common & Peppard H continued their recent fine run, with another 10-0 victory, this time beating Sonning Sports B. As anticipated, there were many close matches but, in the end, Mike Casserley, Gerry Bacon and Julian James all went home with maximums.

Erstwhile leaders Springfield D suffered their third consecutive defeat, losing 6-4 to Sonning Common & Peppard G, in a closely contested match.

Oliver Sayer and Stephen Leggett had each won both of their previous sets, when they clashed in the crucial final set, and it looked like Stephen was earning Springfield a point, until Sayer turned it around, eventually winning 11-13 10-12 11-7 11-5 11-9.

Helping SC&P take the points were Marko Madzar, who won two, and Jim McClure, who won one, while, in reply for Springfield, Colin Jones also won one. Reading FC C made division leaders Our Lady of Peace F fight for the points, OLOP eventually winning 6-4, thanks to another Laurence de Ste Croix maximum, a double from Simon Brookes and a vital ninth set win for Hari Laddunuri, against Wayne Alleyne, whose efforts all evening went unrewarded, while, for Reading FC, Derek Anderson won two and Harry Edwards won one.

Springfield C climbed up the table, with their 6-4 win over Reading FC B, thanks to a 10th-set victory for Chris Speight, over Dave Evans.

Springfield’s Tom Berryman won one, while teammates Rob Atack and Speight ended the night with two wins apiece, as did Reading FC’s Keith Greene and Paul Brown.

By beating the BBC Club 7-3, Tidmarsh E took their winning run to three matches and continued their march up the table, with Pete Sinclair getting his first maximum, while Bob Sunerton and Mike Bundy both won two.

However, there were many close games, not least John Scott’s 11-9 10-12 8-11 12-10 11-9 win over Mike and Jack Mitchell’s 8-11 11-9 9-11 11-8 11-5 win over Bob. In the Team Handicap, competition a thrilling see-saw encounter saw Tidmarsh D take the lead four times but still somehow manage to lose to Sonning Common and Peppard C.

At 4-3 down Danny Dockree crucially won set eight 23-25, 20-22 to again tie the match for Sonning, leaving Tim Raby to complete his maximum and ensure the come from behind victory.
