TYRESE Corbin-Chandler, a former Reading Under 16 player and a product of Wrightchoice CSA, is on trial with Football League 1 side Peterborough United this week.

The attacking midfielder and former John Madejski Academy student will train and play in a game.

He is captain of the Burnham Under 18 team, who are now being coached by his father, Simon Chandler, a former Chelsea youth team player.

Tyrese, 17, will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of another former Reading FC youngster, Alfie Mawson, who is now playing Premier League football.

The defender was released by the Royals and played for Maidenhead United for a time before going to Wycombe Wanderers and then Barnsley.

In August, the 22-year-old signed for Swansea City in a four-year deal worth more than £5million. He made his full debut last month against Watford and was voted their man of the match after a 0-0 draw.

  • THE Reading Invitation Senior Cup is set to go ahead this season after all.

Earlier this week, holders Henley Town claimed they had not received any communication from the competition organisers and were starting to fear they would not be given the chance of defending the trophy they won at Madejski Stadium.

Henley secretary Tony Kingston said on Tuesday night: “It’s gone mid-November and we haven’t heard anything.”

But yesterday the first round draw appeared on the FA Full-Time website, although there is just one tie with Holyport playing Berks County, leaving 15 teams with byes, among them Hellenic clubs Binfield, Bracknell, Ascot, Highmoor Ibis, Woodley United and Wokingham & Emmbrook.

Incidentally, the competition is no longer under the chairmanship of Martin Law, who stood down earlier this year.

It’s good to see the competition continuing as it has been running for a very long time and, outside the Berks & Bucks FA cups, the Senior was a most prestigious competition, attracting teams from over a wide area.

Draws have also been made for the Junior, Jubilee and new Diamond cups.
