Nuns had only five players when they joined the men’s team for their first ever training session less than two years ago.

Now the ladies’ team is going from strength to strength and 22 players took to the field for the inter-club showpiece game, which was arranged when Marlow Ladies pulled out of an original league fixture.

A win again Marlow would have retained Nuns’ position at the top of the National Challenge South East West Two division, but any disappointment was quickly forgotten when referee Tony Shepherd got the friendly under way.

The teams were skippered by Claire Stevens and Joey Fowler and included new signings Jade Chandler and Marina Sokolovskaya.

Seven tries kept a bumper crowd entertained and after the final whistle the Nuns held a raffle and cake sale to help fund a new kit and summer tour.

Nuns train on Mondays and Wednesdays at Rosehill between 7.30-9pm. Email manager Annette Tomas on annettetomas@live com.
