There’s an added incentive for Rams as it’s a chance to erase the memory of last season’s 18-16 defeat at the hands of the Lily Hill men – one of only four losses they suffered in league action.

And it was all their own their fault, as Rams Director of Rugby Mike Tewkesbury, recalls “It was a close game but our discipline was appalling and a succession of yellow cards let them get back in to the game.”

Derby duels, where local pride is at stake, of course, add a further dimension to any game and both Tewkesbury and his side know they have to be on top form: “Derbies are vastly different and previous form has no reflection on the game. It’s a one-off and you expect it to be played like a cup final.

“When you are at the top you are always under pressure and I don’t listen to people who are predicting that we are already promoted. Every game is important and we can’t relax whatever and we face a very stern encounter on Saturday.”

Tewkesbury names a familiar-looking squad but will make one late choice on the wing.

Meanwhile, Bracknell’s skipper George Milligan is doubtful after picking up a head injury a 20-3 win away at Oxford Harlequins.

Bracknell suffered their only home defeat back in October when they lost 37-31 to Exmouth.

Fly-half Owain Davies returned from long-term injury last Saturday to boost their line-up that also includes prolific full- back Stuart Mackay.
