Pangbourne College’s 1st XV rugby squad made a guest appearance on BT Sport’s Rugby Tonight programme on Monday last week alongside retired England World Cup winners Ben Kay and Matt Dawson as well as Gloucester’s New Zealand prop John Afoa.

Zach Baxter-Hill and Joe Klymow donned their full kit to do a lineout demonstration with the two professionals while the rest of the squad with Pangbourne’s head of rugby David Metcalfe, strength and conditioning coach Dawfydd Williams, and teacher Ed Phillips, watched from the audience.

Mr Metcalfe said: “The boys had a really good time. It was really interesting to see BT Sport working in terms of the functioning side of its working studio. It was great fun.”

Former South African World Cup winner Joost van der Westhuizen gave a moving interview in which he discussed the Motor Neurone Disease which has confined him to a wheelchair and the J9 Foundation organisation devoted to fighting the disease.
