FLY-HALF Shane Geraghty will return to London Irish this summer after signing a two-year deal with the club.

After coming up through Exiles' academy, the 25-year-old left Berkshire in 2009 to join Northampton Saints, a decision that was met with disappointment by head coach Toby Booth.

But following spells at Franklin's Gardens and French side Brive, Geraghty has been welcomed back at Irish by director of rugby Brian Smith.

"I know Shane well and he is an exceptional player with a great deal of skill," he commented.

"He's a game breaking ball player and he's matured as a game controller. As we're a team that wants to attack, Shane is a great player to partner Tomás O'Leary.

"His contribution during his first spell with London Irish was massive and I know he will contribute the same when he joins us again. We're looking forward to welcoming him back into the fold."

Geraghty made 71 first team appearances during his first spell with the club, scoring 219 points before signing for Saints in 2009.

He also achieved his six England caps while with Exiles and won the Irish "Young Player of the Season" award and the "Supporters' Club/St Clare's Young Player of the Season" award.
