Gibson urges London Irish to 'do coaches proud'

LONDON Irish flanker James Gibson hopes his side can do his coaches proud against Saracens on Saturday (3pm ko).

The Exiles will have had nearly a fortnight's break since the defeat to Exeter but are now raring to go.

Gibson, 20, is on the comeback from a shoulder injury sustained in the new year but is looking forward to playing last season's champions at the Madejski Stadium. "I'm really looking forward to the game," he said. "Saracens are a very good side and work incredibly hard. They've just lost in the Heineken Cup so maybe we can use that to our advantage."

Gibson insists they can take heart from the excellent performance against Leicester in the St Patrick's Day game.

"There's a positive atmosphere here. We know we've got the talent and the capability to get a result."

The squad have been working hard in training and he is confident they can turn their recent poor form around, especially with the experience of Brian Smith on board.

Gibson added: "I want to do Brian Smith and the coach proud. Brian's a high quality coach and him and Toby work well together."

Last time the sides met, Saracens just edged it 11-15.
