Rugby round-up - Redingensians unable to halt Bournemouth charge

TWO tries from man-of-the-match Rob Stapley failed to save Redingenisnas from defeat at the hands of National Three South West table-toppers Bournemouth.

In a gritty display, the Sonning men gave the Seasiders their toughest match of the season and shared six tries.

They were on the back foot in the first half and never really recovered from conceding two touchdowns in the opening nine minutes.

But they had the satisfaction of becoming the first side to deny the opposition a try bonus point this term.

Reading slipped into the relegation zone in South West One East after they lost 35-13 at Witney and rivals Reading Abbey secured a bonus-point 25-5 win over basement side Olney.

Sean Lynch and Mark Roca scored Reading's tries in their defeat, while Aaron Ross bagged a brace for Abbey to add to tries from Sam Butcher and Steve Willis.
