Warren Milne is on the mend after a potentially career-threatening back injury

RUGBY PREVIEWS

GENSIANS

SIMON Swadling is switched to fly-half for Redingensians' National 3 South West trip to Bournemouth on Saturday.

Swadling, normally a centre, was on holiday in Canada just before Christmas and missed the narrow defeat at Chinnor. He takes over the no 10 shirt from Sid Matthews.

That means the side will be the same as selected for last weekend's postponed home game against Barnstaple with Joe Matthams and Simon Parfitt set to make their debuts in the first team squad.

Gensians, in fifth place, are two points ahead of Bournemouth in the table and will be looking for a repeat of their six-try victory over the Dorset side in the autumn.

The weather has been less severe on the South Coast and Bournemouth report no snow on the pitch. However a final decision on whether the game goes ahead will be made on Friday afternoon.

There is good news for injury-hit Gensians concerning Warren 'Lofty' Milne. The 42-year-old lock, right, has made a full recovery from a broken neck.

Director of rugby Gary Reynolds said: "Lofty has been given the all clear and amazed everyone by returning to rugby."

Meanwhile Gensians are continuing their programme of work in the community.

Recent signing James Watkins will be visiting the Addington School and John Madejski Academy to coach youngsters.

READING

WEATHER permitting Reading RFC are set to make their third trip to Devon in under a month on Saturday to take on mid-table Exmouth.

The Green Machine's last two trips ended in postponements at Barnstaple, so they will be hoping for an early call if this fixture is also beaten by the weather.

Reading won 17-14 when the sides met in October.

BBEY

ABBEY will have their work cut out on Saturday as they face Chris Sheasby's high flying Marlow.

The Buckinghamshire side sit just two points off the top of South West One East with a game in hand and will be a tough nut to crack at Rosehill if the game does go ahead.

Abbey went down 35-10 when they met earlier in the season.
