FOURTH-PLACED Redingensians Rams ensured back-to-back National Two South victories as they battled to a 21-14 at Old Redcliffians on a miserable Saturday afternoon, writes Richard Ashton.

The visitors dominated the opening exchanges, but they had to wait until the half-hour mark before their forwards' power resulted in the opening score.

Following a series of five-metre scrums, it was No. 8 Josh Collis who picked up from the base and crashed over, Jordan Souter adding the extras to put his side 7-0 up.

Old Reds were further weakened when they lost Corey Talbot to the sin-bin, and Rams doubled their advantage before the half-time interval with an almost carbon-copy of their opening score, Collis barreling over before Souter did the rest.

Playing up the slope in the second half, Redingensians put in a heroic defensive effort – ably led by Tom Vooght – but their line was eventually breached when a neat chip from replacement Kieran Hill was gathered by Robbie Smith who set Henry Bird free to go over under the posts. Hill's conversion cut the gap to 14-7.

With time running out, Rams made their decisive move, again from a close-range scrum. This time it was replacement scrum half Miles Lloyd who took the glory, touching down after the pack had pushed the ball over the line.

Souter added the extras, and while a late converted Ethan Doyle try secured the home side a losing bonus point, Seb Reynolds' men could reflect on another impressive success as they stayed level on points with third-placed Taunton Titans.

Redingensians Rams travel to Barnstaple as they seek a third consecutive victoy this Saturday.
