Reading 3 - 1 Blackpool

PROMOTION-chasing Reading returned to winning ways with an impressive 3-1 home win over Blackpool.

IAN HARTE put the home side in front on the half-hour mark with a close-range finish and ALEX PEARCE headed home the second from Jobi McAnuff's cross five minutes later.

LOMANA TRESOR LUA LUA pulled one back for Blackpool with a superb 30-yard drive in the 41st minute.

But MIKELE LEIGERTWOOD restored Royals' two-goal cushion with an unmarked header after an hour's play.

Royals saw out the closing stages without much fuss as they bounced back from Tuesday night's defeat at Peterborough United in style.

Brian McDermott's men also strengthened their grip on second place in the table as West Ham could only draw 2-2 at Burnley and are now four points behind, although they do have a game in hand.

Southampton remain five points clear at the top after beating Doncaster Rovers at home.
